Frequently asked questions

How many m² does a litre of paint cover?

Standard emulsion covers about 12m² per litre per coat on smooth walls. One-coat paints and mist coats cover nearer 10m², and masonry paint about 7m² on smooth render.

Do I need two coats of paint?

Usually, yes. Two coats give an even colour, especially over a darker colour or patched areas. New plaster needs a mist coat first, then two full coats.

Should I take off the doors and windows?

Yes, roughly 1.9m² for a door and 1.5m² for a window. In a small room that can save a litre or more.
