Standard UK rolls (10.05m × 53cm), 2.4m walls, plain or random-match paper, one spare roll from the same batch.

A 4 × 3m room with 2.4m walls needs 8 rolls of standard wallpaper, including 1 spare. Each roll gives 4 full drops. A feature wall 3.5m wide takes 2 rolls.
Not for normal doors and windows: the pieces above and below them use offcuts that rarely save a full drop. Only take off full-height openings such as patio doors, arches or built-in wardrobes.
How does a pattern repeat change the number of rolls?
Each drop has to line up with the pattern, so it wastes up to one repeat. With a 53cm repeat, a 2.4m wall gets only 3 drops per roll instead of 4, and a 4 × 3m room goes from 8 rolls to 10.
Why buy a spare roll?
Rolls from different print batches can differ slightly in colour. Buying a spare from the same batch means repairs and mistakes will match.
